Insurance Designations

Did you know more than 40% of Bouvier’s staff carries one or more designations?

Ever wonder what all that alphabet soup means at the end of your agents name? Most are familiar with the letters or acronyms following a medical professional’s name, which denotes both their profession and field of study. However, some are not aware that insurance agents and financial professionals can also have these acronyms following their names, acknowledging their earned designations.

In order to receive a professional designation, an insurance agent must complete a series of courses on a targeted subject, pass one or more exams, and sometimes sign a code of ethics. Since most policyholders aren’t aware of insurance agent designations or what they represent, most agents don’t obtain their designations to impress clientele, but for their own desire to expand their knowledge of their field. Many agents take these courses in order to further learn of the products they sell, and to teach themselves ways in which they can better serve their customers.

Most business professionals want to do whatever is necessary to be successful. In the insurance industry, this is especially true, with the wide range of designations created to help agents further their knowledge of their products, their business, and the risks their clients are exposed to. Although some agents may spend the time and money on a designation simply for bragging rights or because it looks good on a business card, the majority of agents obtain designations simply to become better insurance producers.

Ask your agent what designations they hold, and how those designations help them better serve you!
