Bouvier Brigade 2019 Recap

January

The Bouvier Brigade stepped out in their best bowling shirts and strapped on some fancy bowling shoes in support of the Jonnycake Center in Westerly.

February

The Bouvier Brigade hosted a collection to support our lost and often forgotten four legged members of the community. Donated items were delivered to The NECCOG Animal Services, Old Lyme Animal Control, Waterford East Lyme Animal Control, Westerly Animal Control, West Hartford Animal Control, and Love at First Sight Pet Adoption Center.

March

The Bouvier Brigade collected, sorted and delivered clothing for the Westerly Warm Center Attire for Hire program.

They also assisted the Waterford Lions with their concession stand assisting in raising over $2,500 for local programs and charities.

April

Bouvier Brigade supported the St. Baldrick’s foundation, with volunteers assisting at the Shave-a thon. Including 4 bald heads and raising $3,000 for children’s cancer research.

In addition some members of the Brigade bowled the night away, taking the coveted top place fundraising award for the Chamber of Commerce ECT Foundation.

May

A collection was held for the Uniting for United Food drive run by the United Way, 775.2 lbs of food was collected and donated.

June

The Brigade tackled home improvement projects for Habitat for Humanity, along with a donation of $1000.00.

July

The Brigade spent a day weeding and harvesting, and then some veggie washing, Immune Broth making, and card writing for Healing Meals Community Project.

August

August was about sending our community children back to school to get the great start they deserve. Helping community programs like the Back to School Expo in Meriden, Waterford Youth Services, and the Bridge Family Center.

September

Members of the Brigade took a few steps to raise awareness for the American Heart Association. They were able to donate a just over $1700.00 in pledges made for this 3 miles walk/run.

It was all fun and games as Dave Pilon got soggy for a cause…the Dunk Dave event raised $2,150.00 for Safe Futures.

October

The Brigade teamed up with Montville Rotary and the Wateford Lions to feed the homeless. They prepared and served a meal at the Homeless Hospitality Center as well as handed out 80 “go bags” which included high protein snacks, hygiene products, a hat, gloves, and a warm pair of socks.

An impromptu blanket drive was a huge success to benefit the St Vincent de Paul Place Norwich.

November

Feeling thankful for what we have, the Brigade collected Food and Turkeys for Waterford Youth Services. Jonny Cake Center, Foodshare, and St Vincent de Paul Place Norwich.

December

The Brigade collected items to fill the wishes of children in need. Working together with the Department of Children and Families, Jonny Cake Center, Lyme Youth and Family Services and Waterford Youth Services. The Brigade also spent a day playing Santa’s elves as they wrapped gifts to be distributed to qualifying families.
